Heavy swirling

Lots of tight spots all over car needed a lot of attention. Our mini buffer with 4" pads were used all over the place, and a couple of rolls of tape were used to protect edges.

This beautiful Rolls Royce Phantom came to us in need of a show car preperation for the Kirkland Concours d' elegance. There were a lot of difficult nooks and crannies on this car, not to mention the stainless steel hood that needed to be polished, and also all the sterling silver, like the radiator, emblems, bumpers, and much much more. The leather was extremely dried and cracking tremendously, so I used Connolly Hide Food Conditioner to soften the leather, performed a 3 step machine polish, and hand waxed with Vintage wax. This preperation took two weeks to finish, but the results were astonishing.

This beautiful car came to us for a concourse preperation for the Kirkland Concours' which is our local version of Pebble Beach. Some of the most expensive, and extravagant cars in the world are here on display. The detail was fairly straight forward. I sanded the paint with Trizact 3000, polished out with SIP and Orange CCS Pad, work in some Micro Polish 85rd with a white pad, and jeweled with Ultrafina and red CCS pad. Topped with 3 coats of Vintage wax. This thing is glowing now and ready for the show. Unfortunately Seattle's weather forecast is predicting rain. AGAIN... :( Thanks for looking.

This yellow Murci. came into us dirty. Hadn't seen a detail in a long time, and whoever did the work last left heavy swirl marks and scratches all over. We performed our Concours Detail using our Vintage wax, with a two step machine polish. Looks beautiful now.

This 2010 Porsche Boxster came in for the ultimate protection package. We installed Venture Shield on the entire front end wrapping the entire hood, fenders, bumper, lights, mirrors, rockers, etc. We also installed Matrix Micro Coatings on the rest of the car including the wheels, and we treated the convertible top. This car is now ready for anything mother nature throws at it.

This Pontiac Solstice got a full front end wrap including full hood and fenders. You can see here how we remove the headlights during the installation. This allows us to wrap the film all the way around the hood, fenders, and bumper. This makes for a much cleaner installation.

When detailing a beautiful car like this Lamborghini, we always take all precautionary methods to protect from damage. The rear bonnet on this car is raw dull carbon fiber, and we don't want to take any chance of damaging it, so it is covered while we polish and wax. Since we recently install a clear mask on the full front end, we also cover that to ensure polishing compound and wax doesn't land on it, and damage it. These are just a few small steps we take at Metropolitan Detail to ensure not only top quality results, but also to prevent any unnecessary simple mistakes from happening.

The Porsche Cayenne S got a Metropolitan Wash this morning. This service includes a hand wash, wipe out the door jambs, clean the wheels, dress the tires, clean windows inside and out, wipe down the dash, and vacuum the rugs. A well maintained car like this one only needs small maintenance services to keep it looking great.

The 2010 Lamborghini LP 670-4 SV finally arrived. We're going to be wrapping the entire front end in Venture Shield, and then performing a Vintage detail. I was very surprised to see the heavy swirling in such a new and expensive car.

This 2003 Porsche Boxster S we see very regularly, unfortunately this time it's in for overspray removal. We removed all the overspray, repolished the car using our 2 stage machine polish method, and topped with our Porsche specific Glasur wax.

Benjamin has been installing a full front Venture Shield wrap on this 2001 Lamborghini Diablo VT. He has completely wrapped the full hood, the full fenders, the rockers, bumper, and leading edges. I will post more pictures when finished.

This beautiful 1965 Malibu came to us because of some severely oxidized paint. This one had a 25 year old paint job or so. We performed a 3 stage machine polish, and topped with our carnauba wax. It looks much better.

This beautiful new X5 came in with some serious paint correction issues. The car had gone through the car wash on a regular basis. We performed a 2 stage machine polish, and topped with our Titanium wax. Looks excellent now.

Lamborghini LP64o all complete. Venture Shield full front end mask installed, also including leading edges around the car. Full Vintage detail complete including a two stage machine polish. All swirls and scratches have been removed, and the car looks fantastic.

As you can see from this picture, we removed the engine cover grates, and there was a lot of polishing compound left behind from previous detailers.

We believe that it's very important to not only polish the paint you can see, but also the paint that you don't normally see. I use a small polisher to get even the door jambs polished, including the carbon fiber trim. This gives the car a much cleaner and crisper look.

Monday July 20th. The 2007 Murcielago LP 640 finally got finished. By looking at the pictures, you can see the interior was dirty, and swirls and scratches were all over the car. We thoroughly deep cleaned the interior and fed the leather.

Monday morning July 20th. We're installing the last pieces on the LP640. Venture Shield claims that you can't do this bumper with one single piece of film, so we had to prove them wrong. The kit they sell is a 4 piece bumper. Here you see Benjamin installing the film on the bumper.

Here you will see Benjamin installing Venture Shield on a Lamborghini LP640. The procedure done here at Metropolitan Detail is a little different than most other places. We take all possible steps to wrap every piece of film on the car, so that you don't have seams everywhere. As you can see we removed the badge, and placed the film underneath. This makes for a very clean installation.

A major part of performing a top level detail is to remove any badges possible, that way you can polish underneath, and also properly clean the badge while it is off. As you can see on my buffing pad, this one has single stage paint "ie no clearcoat". Single Stage paint doesn't have the protection of a clearcoat, but it sure polishes out beautifully.

Here are some beautiful pictures of the 1961 Alfa Romeo Sprint Veloce that came in for a concourse detail. This one was going to the Concours D'Elegance in Portland this weekend. We did a complete undercarriage detail, steamcleaning every nut and bolt, cleaning with steel wool, and aluminum polish as needed. This service took about 8 hours to fully detail the underside.

This morning's first car was a Lexus ES 330 in black of course. It seems that more than half of the cars we work on are black. This one was in for a Metropolitan Premier Detail with our Titanium wax. We performed a three stage machine polish, and topped with Titanium. All swirls were eliminated, and our customer was very happy with the results. This is the second car we have done for him within the last few weeks.

This Mercedes E320 came in with heavy swirling, and scratches. We performed a Metropolitan Premier Detail with a two stage machine polish. All the swirl marks have been removed, we topped with a coat of carnauba wax. Needless to say our Edmonds customer was extremely happy with the results.

Wednesday July 8th. - This mini cooper came in to have some vinyl stripes installed on the bonnet. There was already 3M Scotchgard/Stongard on the hood, that looked absolutely horrible after only a couple of years of driving. We removed the 3M film, and installed the vinyl stripes. This really set off the mini, looks great.

Infiniti J35. This one came in with some major paint correction needs. We performed a 3 stage machine polish to remove the heavy scratching, and swirl marks. Topped with a coat of carnauba wax, and fully detailed the interior and engine compartment.

Friday July 3rd. this beautiful Ferrari 308 came in for a simple wash and spray wax. It had gotten pretty dirty, and had not been washed since the last time we detailed it, about 6 months ago. A good two bucket wash, and spray wax, and it looks great now.

Finally we had some time to work on the Diablo SVR. This one came in dirty. Since this car does see a lot of time on the racetrack, every crack and seam were covered in dirt and grime. Wednesday July 1st. this Mazda came in, and had some paint damage, as there were stickers all over it, and had slightly damaged the clear coat. We wetsanded the areas, and performed a 2 step machine polish. Looks great now.

This 2004 Porsche Boxster S came in for a Metropolitan Exterior detail with our Glasurit specific wax. Looks beautiful. Unfortunately, we were unable to salvage the headlights, as they were dirty on the inside of the lens. You don't want to take apart these sealed headlights.

Monday June 29th. - This morning a recently Matrix coated Mazda Miata came in. Unfortunately, our customer had drove into something on his driver's door. This required some wetsanding to get the scratches out, and reapply the Matrix coating. The M3 in the background came in for a Metropolitan Wash.

The Z4 is finally done. This one needed a very heavy paint correction. We spent all day Saturday making sure the paint was flawless, and swirl free, and also doing the little details that really make a difference in the end. We coated her with Vintage, and the car has an amazing look to it. Rejex'd the wheels also. This was a full day's work for two people. The Venture Shield is also complete. We installed a full hood on this one, with the standard bumper, and fenders, wrapped the rocker panels, and also slapped on a top of the rear bumper. She's ready for summer.

Here is the twin of yesterday's exterior detail. This one is however protected with Matrix Micro Coatings, and the paint looked great. This one also has a complete front Venture Shield wrap, so we polished the film to a beautiful shine, and applied a coat of the new Matrix Micro Coatings clear bra sealer. Looks great.

This customer came to us because he wanted to preserve his beautiful Mercedes S550. Despite being a year old or so, it still had scratches and swirls in it. We already put a Venture Shield clear mask on this car about a year ago. We installed Matrix Micro Coatings on the paint after polishing out the scratches and swirls, and the finish is incredible. We also installed the Matrix Micro Coatings clear bra sealant, and it really does a nice job on the Venture Shield.

Black paint seems all we ever work on here at Metropolitan Detail. This Lexus RX came into our shop with some serious swirl marks and scratches. This car also has factory single stage paint. We removed the scratches and swirls, and applied a coat of carnauba wax. Car looks great.

The Prelude was in for some overspray removal. This was not too difficult of a task since we saw this car recently, and it had a fresh coat of Concours on it. We did claybar, HD Cleanse, and reapplied the wax, and it's as good as new.

Friday June 26th. The first car on our books was a black Honda Civic. This one got a Metropolitan Premier Detail with a two stage machine polish, and a window tint removal. You can see Carlos here removing the window film using a steamer. This allows us to remove the film without leaving a lot of adhesive behind on the windows. Unfortunately I don't have a completed picture of the Honda. It turned out beautifully though.

This beautiful BMW Z4 came into our shop with some serious paint issues. Swirl marks, and holograms all over. I started the day by correcting the entire front end of the vehicle, to get rid of all the scratches and swirl marks. This consisted of a three stage machine polish. Benjamin then installed Venture Shield on the entire hood, the bumper, the headlights, the fenders, rockers, and top of rear bumper. I will finish the polish tomorrow and post pictures as soon as they become available. This car will be quite a transformation.

Here is a Mercedes ML that came in for a maintenance detail. Since we have previously corrected the paint work on this one, all that was needed was our mini-detail. This includes a full interior detail, plus a clay bar on the outside with hand wax. It looks great.

Wednesday June 24th. We started the day off with a Metropolitan Wash on the E36 supercharged M3. A Metropolitan Premier Detail was performed on the blue Honda Civic to get rid of all the swirls and holograms all over. The last was an Audi A4 Avant, and we performed a Metropolitan Premier Detail with a multi-stage polish, and hand applied our polymer paint sealant. The Premier Detail also includes a complete interior detail, shampooing all the carpets and floor mats, removing stains and spills, cleaning all the heater vents and such. The Premier Detail also includes an engine clean. Needless to say, our customer with the Audi was speechless when she picked up her baby.

Another frequent customer of ours brought in his new to him Porsche Boxster S. We performed a Venture Shield installation with a full hood wrap, a two stage exterior polish to eliminate all the swirl marks left behind by the dealership, and topped it off with a coat of our Glasurit paint specific wax.

This Durango also came in needing some serious paint correction. We performed a 3 stage polish on this one, and topped it off with a polymer paint sealant. It looks great for a ten year old truck.

The first car we saw this morning was an Acura NSX in dire need of some attention. This car was not only extremely dirty, but also the paint was heavily marred and swirled up.

As you can see, this car came in very dirty, but after a good prep. (i.e. cleaning the wheels, engine, door jambs, washing the car, we were off to a clean slate. We did use a clay bar to remove any imbedded dirt and grime from the paint. Performed a two stage machine polish, applied a polymer paint sealant, and topped off with our Titanium wax. As you can see, the finish is now perfect.
